Chapter 14 · Championship Soccer 2026
Replays, match moments and videos
Watch the recent action again, keep favourite moments and create videos you can share.
Three ways to look back
| Feature | Use it for | How long it stays available |
|---|---|---|
| Match-panel timeline | Review events already played in the current match, with seeking, rewind and pause. | The current match session while the panel history is available. |
| Instant and saved replay | Replay the recent action and keep a playable record in Championship Soccer. | Instant replay uses a rolling recent-action recording. Saving creates a file you can open later. |
| Match-moment video | Watch or share a normal video outside the game. | A separate WebM video file created from a saved moment. |
Looking back does not alter the score or give you a second attempt at an action. A saved replay is also separate from a career save. Saving a goal does not save your season's progress, so use Save game as well when you want to keep the career.
Watching the recent action again
Press R during a live match and release it to begin the instant replay. The game shows the recent recorded action, then returns to the current match when playback reaches the end. Press S to toggle slow motion. Press S again for normal playback speed.
Press R again or Esc to leave the instant replay early. This returns to the latest live state, including the same score and incidents. It does not restart play at the replay's beginning.
The recording is a rolling history of recent action, not an automatic permanent recording of the entire match. Use replay or save promptly after a moment you want to keep. Time spent playing on can replace the oldest part of that recent recording.
Saving a goal, chance or other moment
- After the incident, press Enter or numeric keypad Enter during live play. You may also press it while the instant replay is running.
- Release the key and wait for the replay-saved message. The game supplies a filename based on the time of saving.
- Continue the match. If video creation is enabled, a message also tells you that the match moment will be prepared as a video after the final whistle.
Saving during live play is useful when you want to keep the action without watching it immediately. Saving from instant replay lets you first check the moment. Do not hold Enter expecting it to make repeated separate recordings.
The in-game replay is saved in the selected personal Replays folder. Normal current replay files use .src. Older uncompressed .srp replays are also supported by the replay browser. If a save fails, follow the message, check the personal folder and available space, and try again while the moment is still available.
Opening a saved replay
- Return to the top main menu and choose View replays.
- Browse the replay folder, select a replay and choose the load action. The location controls let you use the personal folder or an available installation replay folder.
- Watch it to the end, or press R or Esc to leave early and return to the browser. Use S to toggle slow motion.
You do not need to load the career in which the replay was recorded. The replay contains its own match record. Opening it does not advance your active career.
In the saved-replay viewer, Insert and Delete rotate the camera in opposite directions. Hold Home or numeric * to make the angle steeper, and End or numeric / to make it flatter. Numeric decimal resets the angle. The live match's full Backspace camera menu and management timeline are separate controls, so use the replay keys while in this viewer.
If a replay cannot be viewed, the game returns to the browser with a message. Keep the original file. A damaged or incompatible recording is not fixed by renaming its extension. See Troubleshooting for installation and reporting checks.
Creating a shareable video
In Options, turn on Keep match moments as videos and save the preference. Then save moments during a match with Enter as described above. This records only the moments you choose, rather than exporting every minute automatically.
After the match, Your match moments shows the preparation, assembly and saving progress. When all videos are ready, the game returns automatically to the screen you came from. There is no extra success confirmation to dismiss.
If you want to return before every clip is ready, choose Finish later. Esc or the right mouse button also postpones that work. Unfinished moments remain available to finish later, and the game can pick them up on a later start while automatic video creation is enabled. If some moments could not be completed, read the message and use Continue to return.
The resulting .webm video is saved beside its replay with the same base filename. The .src replay remains available. Open the video in a compatible browser or media player, or attach it wherever you normally share videos. The game does not upload it for you.
Video quality and maximum length
| Setting | What it means |
|---|---|
| Compact | A smaller 960 × 540 picture, suitable when a lighter video is the priority. |
| Balanced | A 1280 × 720 picture and the normal starting quality. |
| Detailed | A 1280 × 720 picture with a stronger emphasis on detail. |
| Maximum length | Choose 20, 25 or 30 seconds. The default is 20 seconds. |
Videos use a fixed widescreen 16:9 picture at 60 frames per second, independent of the resolution of the screen on which you played. The current exported videos are silent.
The length setting is an upper limit. A short source moment produces a shorter video, and a complicated scene may start later so the complete file fits within the normal 19.5 MB sharing limit. The ending, including the moment at which you saved, is retained. A higher quality choice therefore does not guarantee the full selected duration.
The saved in-game replay preserves the source moment separately. If you want to study that fuller record in Championship Soccer, choose it in View replays. A newly created WebM is for ordinary video viewing and sharing, so it is not listed as a replacement playable replay.
Reviewing a match through the panels
If you want to inspect more than the recent instant-replay window while the match is still open, use the match panels. Their timeline has event markers, a draggable position, play/pause, rewind, forward and LIVE. Repeated direction controls step through 2×, 4× and 8× review speeds.
The current match pauses while you look back. Select LIVE to return to its latest point. Opening a team-management action also returns to the current match before you make changes. The history is not a career rewind and it is not automatically saved to a replay file.
Turning the panels off clears that panel history. The matchday chapter explains when the panels appear and how to use them together with tactics and substitutions.
Keeping a still image
For a screenshot of the 2026 match, use your operating system's capture tool. On Windows, Windows + Shift + S opens the snipping tool, where you can select the game or an area and save the image. A system capture tool may take focus away from the game, so pause first if you are capturing a particular view.
The Classic manual's F12 screenshot command belongs to the older two-dimensional view. Use the operating-system method for the normal 2026 stadium view. A still image is useful for a score, menu or visual problem. A saved replay or video is more useful when movement and timing matter.
Finding, backing up and sharing your recordings
The normal Windows location is Documents\My Games\Championship Soccer\Replays, or the Replays folder under your chosen storage folder. Use the location actually shown by the game if Documents has been redirected or you selected another folder.
Keep both files when a moment matters: the SRC for playback in the game and the WebM for viewing elsewhere. You can copy these files to your own backup folder without copying the whole career. Replay files and career saves are different kinds of file and are opened through their respective menu choices.
For a report about a particular pass, tackle or animation, include the original replay when possible and describe the moment in plain language. A video makes the issue easy to see, while the original replay helps reproduce it. Send the original exported file when asked for diagnostic material, since re-encoding a video can remove information carried with it.
For folder changes, storage errors and career backups, see Saving and personal files.
