About the game

Football on the pitch and across a career

Championship Soccer combines direct control of matches with individual player careers, team management and an evolving football world.

A career may be experienced as one footballer, as a player-manager controlling one player, as a player-manager controlling the whole team, or as a manager. Several human profiles can take part in the same career and may be attached to different clubs, teams or individual players.

During matches, movement and a context-sensitive action button control passes, shots, challenges, headers and player changes. Away from the pitch, selections, formations, contracts, transfers, training, youth players, finances, competitions and season history continue from week to week.

Player age, ability, potential, form, fitness, reputation, happiness and match performance are separate values. Their meanings and the places in which they are used are covered in the player, training, transfer and reference chapters.
